Liska as a Hub of Jewish Tradition

The Jewish heritage of Liska, prominent since the 1800s, has made it a vital center for religious life. Every year, thousands honor Tzvi Hirsh Liska, also known as Hershele Lisker, in Liska. The village has over 500 Jewish landmarks, each contributing to the town’s historical depth. Close to 3,000 Jewish residents called Liska home by the late 1800s, creating a lively community. Liska’s legacy has reached nearby towns, notably Kerestir, impacting Jewish life in Hungary. About 5,000 pilgrims and tourists visit Liska each year, drawn by its historical and spiritual atmosphere.

Preservation initiatives for Liska are driven by both local and global support.
